About

Who we are, and what we are not

Contractor Institute is a marketing company for contractors, run by people who think most marketing companies for contractors are a bad deal.

The trade has a pattern. An agency sells a website, registers the domain in its own name, locks in twelve months, buys ads through its own account so the real spend is invisible, and sells the same lead to whoever else in town is paying. When the contractor tries to leave, they find out they own none of it.

We are not claiming to be a charity or a movement. We sell marketing services and we charge money for them. The difference is in the terms, and the terms are on the pricing page where you can read them before you talk to anyone.

What we are not

Being clear about this matters more to us than sounding impressive:

  • We are not an accredited school and we do not grant credentials, degrees or certifications. “Institute” is our name, not a claim about our status.
  • We are not a trade association, union or licensing body, and we do not speak for any contractor other than by their instruction.
  • We are not a law firm. Nothing here is legal advice.
  • We are not a registered charity. The scholarship programme is funded by us, out of what the business earns.

How we make money

One way: contractors pay us a flat monthly fee for the packages listed on the pricing page. We take no commission on your jobs, no percentage of your ad spend, and no payment from any lead platform, software vendor or supplier for sending business their way. If that ever changes, it will be written on this page before it happens.
